Ohio franchise Cleats boasts best wings, and has an excellent tasting burger
by Anthony M. Fuda
The Mahoning Valley Burger Review Board’s (MVBRB) quest to find the best burger took them to the Ohio-based Cleats Club Seat Grille.
The sports-themed restaurant/bar was started in North Royalton in 1996 and has expanded to 15 locations in NE Ohio. We stopped by the Cleats on Elm Road in Warren, which was opened in 2007.
Cleats boasts “Home of the world’s best wings,” and are also the official chicken wings of the Indians. They also have an excellent burger worthy of trying.
There are plenty of TVs with sports playing on every channel — especially if you are a Cleveland Indians, or Cavs fan right now.
We were greeted by our server Liz Costantino, who kept our drinks full and made sure our meals were to our liking.
Everyone had a different burger and agreed the combination of toppings with the smokey grilled burger made for a great meal. The crispy, thick fries complemented the tasty burger.
“The burger tastes like a backyard barbecue,” said board member Tony Krusely. “It was good and tasty.”
The "Garbage Burger"
Cleats has a good range of burgers; from the regular Cleats burger; the spicy Firecracker burger (with jalapeno and pepper jack cheese); the Garbage burger (with everything from onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato and even coleslaw); to the Roma burger (with three burgers topped with salami.)
Each burger’s signature toppings blended well, and added to, the flavor of the meat.
After finding out the MVBRB was in house, cook Ricky Nelson came out to get our seal of approval on his work.
If you are looking for a place to watch the game, especially the Indians or Cavs, then this is the place for you. They have a great burger and a fun atmosphere.
“Overall I would recommend this place for great food and a great time,” said board member Scott Long.
