Shakers brings back hometown fun, hometown food and a great burger
By Anthony M. Fuda
The Mahoning Valley Burger Review Board’s (MVBRB) latest stop on the 2010 burger tour was Shakers Bar and Grill (Liberty). We found them through their numerous Facebook friends, who requested us to “try the best burgers around.”
The burger platter consists of a 1/2 pound of fresh beef and either fries, onion rings or chips for $5.99. All burgers are served with lettuce, tomato and onions. From there, the customer can choose toppings ranging from an egg, mushrooms, hot peppers to sauteed onions and different cheeses for an additional .50 per item. When we entered the cozy bar, we were pleasantly greeted by our hostess, waitress and bartender Jenn Daly who took care of us throughout our meal. We started off with a little something different – one appetizer each of mac and cheese bites and pepper shooters. Two items definitely worth trying before your main course.
We then took advantage of the build-your-own burger feature and each built our own perfect burgers with the great selection of toppings. The burgers were seasoned well and very filling with a toasted, yet soft bun. The fresh cut fries were crispy and very good. But the onion rings were what garnered the most attention. They had a light breading and an excellent flavor.“These were the best onions rings I’ve had in quite a while, ” said JT.
We have found several great burgers this year thanks to comments and suggestions from you, our readers. Keep sending them to mvbrb @hotmail.com or leave a comment here or at facebook.com/m.v.burger.review.board .
